New school

Please forgive a nostalgic mama for this post.  Liam starts school tomorrow.  It's just his last year of preschool, but somehow it feels different.  Perhaps because his new school, the Jerusalem American International School, is a "real" school, grades preK-12.  There's a library and a computer lab, a principal and a front office, a gym and a pool...a "real" school.  He is excited, no doubt!  And today at orientation, he was able to get his feet underneath him by meeting his teacher, finding his cubby, and experiencing a bit of circle time and free play.  I know he will love it!  But it makes my heart hurt just a bit as well.

I have had him with me (almost) all day every day since we moved from Bosnia.  And before that, we still had afternoons together in Sarajevo.  It has been since we left Centreville that he's had an all day school day.  And I am going to miss him.

But he will be fine.  He's had lots of practice attending new schools, see?

First day at Oak Hill Montessori when mommy first had to go back to work.

First day at Chesterbrook Academy when mommy got a new job
as librarian at a different school.

First day at International Montessori House in Sarajevo (not too happy, huh?)

First day at St. Peter's Episcopal Day School
when we had to go back to the States to have Sam.

And finally, standing next to his cubby at JAIS. True first day photo will be tomorrow.

Good luck to my buddy.  God bless you and keep you, little man.  And as my mom always told me, "Study hard and learn lots!"
