After many long hours in the car, we finally arrived at our campsite, The Rock Camp, near Petra. We were really excited about being able to camp with some bedouins in the desert. The term bedouin usually brings to mind people meandering through the desert with their families, goats, and belongings, and there are some nomadic bedouins, but most no longer wander. Instead, they set up a somewhat permanent residence, and many of the entrepreneurial ones allow tourists to camp with them in the traditional bedouin style in order to make a living.
With two kids in tow, and with my lack of camping since my Camp Winnataska days, we opted for the "luxury" tent. This meant our tent had three single beds with sheets and blankets inside. We brought along Sam's pack n' play, and as he took a little rest, we snapped some photos of our pretty sweet campsite.
Almost there!
Snack time outside our tent
Whew! Out of the car AND a sleeping baby? Mama's all smiles.
Geoff amid the luxury tents.
Resting, snacking, and taking in the view while Sam naps.
The public area--campfire is center and meal tents are to the right.
It is much more impressive at night, so stay tuned.
