After the Cliffs, we drove north to the Church of the Beatitudes. It is a small, pretty "church in the round" with an altar in the center, with some lovely grounds around it. While we wish the sun had come out, we enjoyed touring the site.
It has a mosaic floor and lovely paintings inside depicting the Sermon on the Mount.
The front of the church with the Sea of Galilee behind it
The grounds are nice, but small.
And the beatitudes are honored with small monuments
all around the church, both in English and Latin.
This one seems especially important these days.
There is also a lovely rock garden dedicated to the miracle of the 5 loaves and 2 fishes.
