Mt. of Olives, part 3

After walking around the garden, we entered the church.  The Church of All Nations is a Catholic church, built with funds donated by Catholics from lots of different countries.  The church has 12 domes dedicated to the largest donors, including the U.S.  The outside of the church has four columns, on which sit statues of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  Each statue is holding his own book.

It is a very dark church.  It takes your eyes a while to adjust once you enter, especially on a a day as bright as the one we had.  It is purposefully done, and I like it that way.  It reminds you of the dark night Jesus experienced.  After walking around looking at the altars and artwork, I sat for a quiet minute, watching the private mass taking place.  It was lovely.
