A rainy 4th

After lovely weather our first few days back home, the rain arrived in time for the 4th of July, and BOY was it a wash-out.  We had 3 straight days of rain, and what do you do with 2 little ones inside all day? Go crazy.  So on the 4th, we headed into Birmingham to visit the McWane Science Center.  It was a fun morning full of all kinds of sciency things!

First, the grandkids had to help Mims bake the 4th of July cake.

Then we headed to the science center, where we made giant bubbles...

 played music with Mims...

worked on the giant Lite Brite board...

saw some fish...

and tried to touch the rays and sharks!

Once home, we tried to get a nice photo with Mims.
Too bad only Mims was in a smiling mood!

Then it was time for barbecue!

The cousins enjoyed the ribs immensely!

After dinner, it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" to America...Liam's favorite part!

Despite the rain, we made the 4th a very enjoyable day!  We even got to see Uncle Bobby, Aunt Kim, and Garrett!  We all sure would have preferred a day on the lake, but time spent with family is ALWAYS fun, no matter the weather outside.
